In Spare, Prince Harry details  that the entire royal family would use phrases for William and himself to distinguish their status. Also, he said that he was  "brought into the world in case something happened" to William.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the Duke of Sussex told about what the dynamic of the heir and the spare could mean for his nephews in the future.

"Though William and I have talked about it once or twice, and he has made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility, I still feel a responsibility knowing that out of those three children, at least one will end up like me, the spare. And that hurts, that worries me." He said.
