After seven years with the internationally renowned boy band, Justin Timberlake parted ways with NSYNC in April 2002, following a successful third album, Celebrity, and four-month stadium tour.
The 36-year-old singer says despite the immense success, he was ready to embark on new projects, which solely catered to the music and not to sold-out stadiums. He recalled when they were on a stadium tour, and felt like the whole thing was just too big.
It started as a fun snowball fight that was becoming an avalanche, he continued. And, also, he was growing out of it. Justin Timberlake felt like he cared more about the music than some of the other people in the group.
Justin Timberlake also felt like he had other music he wanted to make and that he needed to follow his heart. Technically, the group never broke up. The five members announced they were going on a hiatus in the spring of 2002, but to this date, have never officially gotten back together.
