It’s been 3 years since the release of one of the cinematographic events of the century and it still gives headlines. Avengers: Endgame left so many things to talk about and the most recent one was when directors of the film, Joe and Anthony Russo, revealed that they were asked by someone not to kill a character.

That someone was Jon Favreau, director of Iron Man and Iron Man 2, who after reading the script was in complete shock. He could not believe that the movie that every Marvel fan was waiting, would end on tragedy for such a beloved character: Tony Stark

Everyone remembers that scene at the final battle, where the character played by Robert Downey Jr., made the final sacrifice as he exclaimed: “I am Iron Man”, just as he had said on his first movie.

“Are you really going to kill Iron Man? You can’t do this. It’s gonna devastate people, and you don’t want them, you know, walking out of the theater and into traffic,” argued Favreau.

Why did they do it anyway?

“We had the opportunity to give him the perfect retirement life, within the movie. That’s the life he’s been striving for. Are he and Pepper going to get together? Yes. They got married, they had a kid, it was great. It’s a good death. It doesn’t feel like a tragedy. It feels like a heroic, finished life,” the brothers explained.
