What is really behind the song?

Even though the interpreter of Hannah Montana dedicated a couple of songs to Hemsworth like “Angels like you” and “Slide away”, “Flowers" seems to be the song where she exposed the truth about her toxic relationship.

Many years ago, her ex-husband dedicated “When I was your man” in which a man talks about how he had to buy more flowers to keep his couple; In response Cyrus now sings “I can buy myself flowers”.

While the song hints at several stormy moments in the performers' relationship, it is also a song in which Cyrus talks about empowerment and self-love.
