The Critics Choice Awards are one of the most important film and tv awards and the platform to see born or reborn stars just like Brendan Fraser.

The star gained popularity during the 90’s for his iconic role of Rick O'connel on “The Mummy” and being  “George of the Jungle” in the homonymous film.

Fraser, who was out of the spotlight for a long time, came back this year with “The Whale”. The film reveals the story of Charlie, a morbidly obese English teacher who tries to regain her distant daughter's relationship (played by Sadie Sink).

After been announced as best actor,  Brendan Fraser referred “The whale”  as a film about love adding, “It's about redemption. It's about finding the light in a dark place, and I'm so lucky to have worked with an ensemble that is incredible” which includes Sadie Sink, Austin Butler and Hong Chau actors.

"And Darren Aronofsky, I was in the wilderness — and I probably should've left a trail of breadcrumbs — but you found me, and like all the best directors, you merely just showed me where to go to get me where I needed to be," Fraser said.
